The Buried Truth:

It is early in the morning; I can see volunteers of Nikhil’s Party are searching for Kumar. They were enquiring for him at all the possible places where he can be. They came to know that he was last seen at his farmhouse from the girl with whom he was the last night. She explained everything that occurred last night. She left that place after an hour after Kumar went missing as she was scared to be left alone in the forest.

Nikhil ordered his people to look for Kumar in the forest. After an hour of searching, they found the hanging body of Kumar. They informed about the same to the Nikhil. Nikhil reached the spot and he can’t even have a look at his brothers’ body; people around him were shocked by the brutal scenes and they became so furious assuming the same was done by Opposition Party. They took their knives and rushed towards the residence of Opposition party head and Nikhil joined them.

After getting there, his people started damaging and attacking on the house and people of the opposition party. As it gets serious, Nikhil asked his people to stop the fight on the request of his opposition party head and went inside the home to speak with him. They both went into a room and the opposition party head fell on the legs of Nikhil, pleading that he had nothing to do with his brother’s death. He said that he never dared to go after him and he said that he will withdraw from the elections, to show his support. He said that he ordered his brother to kill just to get attention and votes of his community people but has no intention of doing so.

Nikhil is also convinced, as he knows that they won’t be alive when someone pulls this kind of strings with him. He left the place and used the death of his brother to gain the sympathy of people. He pulled a story of an abandoned house that is known for several years to all the people of surrounding villages. The story is that whoever visits that house will die up unusually within few days of the visit. He said that his brother went to unfold the superstations and became prey for it. Villagers also believed the story as they were not aware of these cruel brothers.

The final rituals of the Kumar were completed and I also planned to move back to the city and start a new life. Before doing the same, I decided to pay my final respects to my parents by adding their ashes in any Holy River. In two days, there is a shiv festival organized at a place which is around 200 Km from where I am staying. I decided to go there and offer my final respects. On the same night, I vacated from the room along with my belongings and went back to the forest to take Kumar’s head. I packed the same in a proper bag and took measures so that it won’t smell.

I reached the bus stop and packed all my luggage on the top and started moving towards the place where the festival is organized. I reached there by 3:30 in the morning and hired a priest to perform the rituals. It is done by 5:00 and I took a self-driving raft and put all the things on it. I drove it to the middle of the river, where the depth of the river is so deep. The surroundings are still dark and cold, I took the Kumar’s head from the bag which is covered with covers, I tied a stone to it and dropped it inside the river. Now that all the past of my parents is buried, I opened the ashes of my parents and poured it into the river so that their souls can be rest in peace.  My eyes are wet thinking about the thought where and how my sister is. I came back to the shore and took a bath in the river and prayed for the safety of my sister.

I sat on the shore watching people coming with their families and smiles on their faces. I sat there with no idea of what is going to happen next in my life.  I am in a dilemma of why I am left alone and kept starring at the open sky leaning back. I closed my eyes and I can feel the cool breeze on my face, I can see my parents smiling at me in the sky. I decided to move on and got up. I rub the tears from my eyes and started walking back. I am hungry and decided to eat something. I approached a small tiffin center nearby and ordered a plate for me. I took my plate and sat on a nearby rock to eat the same and there I saw a small squirrel hiding its food under a rock. I took a small leaf and put a small amount of my food in it. It is eating slowly and we both finished our breakfast watching the rising Sun back from the hills.

While I was about to leave, a sadhu who was watching me during my breakfast called me. I went towards him after washing my hands, then he said “All that buried doesn’t mean an end, some are like seeds, watch for it and if you want a remove a tree from your way, don’t just cut its branches, remove it from roots “.  After that, he left from there smiling saying “I guess, you already made a move”. I am puzzled at that time and ignored him. But it took 7 years to understand what it means when I came across Nikhil and My sister after 7 years, for the things that are buried now.
